Dr. Stephen Wolpo, DDS, has been an active member of Stamford's Umbrella Club since 2007.

The Ice Bucket Challenge, September 2014

In September of 2014 The Umbrella Club of Stamford and Stamford Hospital participated in "The Ice Bucket Challenge", raising money for ALS Research. Chris Riendeau of Stamford Hospital challenged the Umbrella Club to match whatever the individual members contributed and if the club did, the Hospital would match that, amounting to a 3-1 return. We're projecting donations to reach the 10K mark.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that causes muscle weakness, paralysis, and ultimately, respiratory failure.

Take the ice bucket challenge or challenge others to do it. Send your donations of any size to the Lou Gehrig ALS Center, Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, Attention Dr. Neil Shneider, 710 West 168th Street, New York, NY 10032-3784.

Helping a Stamford Family, February 8, 2012

When the Umbrella Club, a non-profit organization, heard the story of a 13-year-old boy who was born blind and without a nose, they unanimously decided to sponsor the family. At a fundraiser Wednesday night, February 8th, 2012, the family was honored and more money was raised for the mission of the club (helping children in need) with a raffle. Thirteen-year-old Jeffrey even chose the winning tickets for various prizes including a 2012 Ford Mustang. All 999 tickets at $100 a piece were sold out for the cause.
